Rodeo Austin prides itself in hosting one of the best State Championship BBQ cook-offs, BBQ Austin! In addition to delicious competition and awesome entertainment, this event features BBQ University, presented by Pitmaster Collective, – a fun and educational experience for those looking to indulge their inner State Champion Pit Master. Taught by world-class chefs, BBQ University offers attendees the opportunity to learn more about the art of BBQ!
BBQ University’s Masterclass – Saturday, March 2, 2024 – 8:30 AM
BBQ University’s Masterclass, presented by Pitmaster Collective, will cover all aspects of BBQ! The morning will begin at 8:30 AM with breakfast. Then, at 9:00 AM, John Bates of Interstellar BBQ (Texas Monthly Top Ten) will guide you through the process of creating legendary sides. At 10:00 AM, Alex Shenkin of Fiesta Spices will teach you how to “spice-up” your BBQ game. Just in case you’re not hungry enough by 11:00 AM, Bobby Holley of Brotherton’s Black Iron BBQ (Texas Monthly Top Fifty) will share the secrets behind his signature burgers, followed by a grilling demo from Steven Rossler of Rossler’s Blue Cord Barbecue (Texas Monthly Top 25 in New BBQ). At 12:00 PM, you will get to sit back and relax during lunch as you enjoy the award-winning food that has been prepared for you. To sweeten the deal, at 1:30 PM Kristen Rossler of Rossler’s Blue Cord Barbecue will help you indulge in delicious desserts. Finally, to round out BBQ University’s Masterclass, enjoy a sausage making session with the “Sausage Sensei”, Bill Dumas, of Brotherton’s Barbecue from 1:30 – 3:30 PM.
What’s included: All BBQ University Masterclass tickets include admission to the class, same-day admission to BBQ Austin, and a complimentary VIP Parking Pass. Attendees will also be provided with all materials, a keepsake apron, and an open bar during the class!
