A Fun Filled Educational Cooking Session

BBQ Austin University features TWO fun and interactive sessions including: Happy Hour Friday and Smokin’ Saturday! These sessions have limited capacity to allow for an intimate, hands-on learning experience.

Happy Hour Friday
Friday March 3, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
BBQ U Happy Hour Friday is a fun evening session that will showcase drinks and the craft of sausage making. This is an exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes on making cocktails with John Zamora of Tito’s Vodka. Then, Bill Dumas, the “Sausage Sensei” from Brotherton’s Black Iron BBQ will demonstrate the entire process of sausage making. Since sausage is considered part of the Texas Trinity, this is a great introduction to the art of sausage making!

Smokin’ Saturday
Saturday March 4, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
BBQ U’s all-star packed Smokin’ Saturday covers all aspects of BBQ! The morning will begin with John Bates of Interstellar BBQ sharing his secret to prepare the best pork belly bites. John Brotherton of Brotherton’s Black Iron BBQ will show you all the tricks of the trade for trimming a brisket. Texas Original Brands’ Joey Machado will tackle the hottest cut in the BBQ world right now – tri-tip! This demonstration will delve into how to reverse sear a tri-tip. John Zamora of Tito’s Vodka joins Saturday’s fun with a signature cocktail demonstration. The afternoon sessions kick-off with Alex Shenkin of Fiesta Spices talking everything you need to know about spices and how to get the best flavor on anything you cook. The day wraps up with Steven and Kristen Rossler of Rossler’s Blue Cord BBQ with the best way to close out any meal – dessert!
