The crowd favorite, Mutton Bustin’, is where aspiring young cowboys and cowgirls get eight seconds of fame by busting out of the chutes aboard a sheep.

OFFICIAL RULES

Rodeo Austin Mutton Bustin’ Participants must be ages 5 -7 and weigh no more than 55 pounds. Only 1 entry per child allowed in the Rodeo Arena.

RODEO ARENA PARTICIPANTS:

  • These spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis
  • The cost is $125.00 for a child to participate in the Rodeo Arena
  • This price includes two reserved tickets

MUTTON BUSTIN’ MANIA PARTICIPANTS:

  • Takes place in the Wild West Tent at 3:00 p.m. each Saturday of Rodeo Austin
  • The cost is $30.00 for a child to participate in Mutton Bustin’ Mania
  • This price includes one Fairgrounds Admission Ticket for participant
  • Guardian must show child’s birth certificate to participate

Where do I go to register?

  • Stay tuned for registration details!
    • You must have your child’s birth certificate to register.
    • You must be the legal guardian of the participant to register.
  • The child must be between the ages of 5 – 7
  • Must weight no more than 55 pounds; for the safety of the animal and child

What all do I need to register my child to participate in Mutton Bustin?

  • Fill out the form
  • Agree to the liability waiver
  • Attach a copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Pay registration fee

How much does Mutton Bustin cost?

  • $125 for a child to participate in Mutton Bustin in the Rodeo Arena
    • This price includes two reserved seats (one for the contestant, one for a guest).
  • $30 for a child to participate in Mutton Bustin Mania
    • This price includes one fairgrounds admission ticket for the contestant.

How many spots are available for Mutton Bustin?

  • Spots are limited for the Mutton Bustin that happens in the arena.
  • We have an unlimited amount of spots for Mutton Bustin Mania.

Spots in the arena sold out before I could register my child for Mutton Bustin … What do I do? ***Spots fill on a first come first serve basis and they fill super-fast!***

  • We have an unlimited amount of spots open for Mutton Bustin Mania.
  • This is held in the Wild West Tent on Saturdays ONLY at 3:00.
  • You may sign your child up for this on our website, or we take walkups the day of. (Be sure to have your child’s birth certificate)

When do we find out when and where to have our child on the day we register for?

  • They will receive an email with all the additional information on Mutton Bustin.
