Rodeo Austin awarded a record $4.2 million to Texas kids in 2026 through auctions, scholarships, calf scramble, internships, and other youth programs. This milestone reflects the organization’s continued commitment to growing the next generation of Texas kids.
Fueled by record attendance and participation, and supported by generous sponsors and volunteers, Rodeo Austin wrapped up another strong year of bringing heritage, agriculture, and entertainment to the community. More than 505,000 people attended Rodeo Austin’s March events, making 2026 one of the most successful years in the organization’s history.
Cowboy Breakfast welcomed approximately 5,500 attendees to the Long Center on March 6, while BBQ Austin saw record entries and a two-day attendance of more than 41,000. During the Fair & Rodeo, 458,600 guests came through the gates. As a top 10 ProRodeo, Rodeo Austin had nearly 700 athletes competing and paid out more than $796,000 to top cowboys and cowgirls. ProRodeo & Concert crowds also reached a new high with 11 sell-out performances.
The world-class Junior Livestock Show had a record number of entries this year, totaling more than 10,000. The culmination of exhibitors’ hard work came on March 28 during the Youth Auction, which raised over $3.4 million for the youth of Texas.
Following a record-breaking 2026 season, Rodeo Austin announced Brian Yarbrough as President of Rodeo Austin. Yarbrough has been part of the organization for more than 20 years. Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to Rodeo Austin’s mission and the continued growth of its programs, community impact, and support of Texas Youth.
Joe Straub was re-elected as Chairman of the Board. He previously served as President of Rodeo Austin from 2019 to 2022 and continues to provide leadership and guidance as the organization advances its mission.
In addition to the officers, the 2027 Executive Committee includes Joel Anderson, Shannon Bangle, Keith Berdoll, Calley Callahan Asklund, Michael Ehrhardt, David Kardosz, Rick Lange, Brian Lehne, Lance Lively, Greg Maphet, Shaun Tuggle, Secretary Treasurer, Fred Weber, and Barkley Wedemeyer. Together, these volunteer leaders provide guidance and oversight in support of Rodeo Austin’s mission of growing the next generation.
Overall, the 2026 Rodeo Austin season was marked by record attendance, record participation, and record support for Texas youth. In the coming months, the organization will continue awarding additional scholarship funds to Texas students. Don’t miss what’s next for Rodeo Austin!
