Austin, Texas, June 29, 2021 – Rodeo Austin is pleased to announce Glen Alan Phillips as the new Chief Operating Officer for the organization. Glen Alan joins Rodeo Austin after serving as President & CEO of the American Royal Association in Kansas City. Glen Alan’s career has been dedicated to building events, promoting, and cultivating agricultural education and leading teams towards success.

“Rodeo Austin is thrilled to welcome Glen Alan to our leadership team. His deep-rooted passion for the rodeo and livestock industry aligns perfectly with Rodeo Austin’s mission to grow the next generation,” says Rob Golding, CEO of Rodeo Austin. “Glen Alan’s seasoned experience brings a thorough understanding of our industry and I look forward to working together to provide real experiences and gritty fun to our community while raising millions for Texas kids.”

While serving as President & CEO of the American Royal, Glen Alan brought a progressive strategy to the organization, and oversaw the world’s largest barbecue competition, the American Royal World Series of Barbeque. In 2020, due to his extensive ProRodeo production experience, he served as the General Manager of the National Finals Rodeo. During the pandemic, he led the challenging transition to relocate the National Finals Rodeo from Las Vegas to Arlington, Texas within 90 days of opening the chutes.

Prior to joining the American Royal, Glen Alan enjoyed a nearly 20-year career at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. As part of the Executive Management Team, he helped lead the operation of one of the world’s largest Livestock Shows and top ProRodeos to new heights annually. Also, during his time in San Antonio, Glen Alan was instrumental in partnering with city, county and private donors to build a new facility for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo to host their annual events.

Glen Alan and his wife, Traci, have three children Garrett 22, Graci 19, and Gentri 16. The Phillips family has been very active in 4-H and FFA, livestock shows, and youth rodeos. Glen Alan has been involved at the board level with numerous industry organizations during his career, including Texas FFA Foundation, International Association of Fair & Expositions, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Association of Rodeo Committees and North American Livestock Show & Rodeo Managers Association.

Glen Alan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University. He holds a Master’s in Animal Science from Angelo State University.

“The opportunity to come home to Texas and be part of Rodeo Austin is one that I relish. Rodeo Austin’s commitment to the youth of Texas, agriculture, and the community hits me at my core,” says Glen Alan. “I am excited and ready to work with the committed staff, volunteers, and supporters to provide entertaining and educational events in our state’s capital.”

Rodeo Austin looks forward to introducing Glen Alan Phillips to our community.
